Algebra
§ Simplifying algebraic expressions such as 5a2b x 4ab3
§ Simplifying expressions a(a + 5) – (a – 1)2
§ Multiplying out brackets such as (5a + 2b)(a – b)
§ Rearranging formulae to change the subject, for example rearrange v = 4πr2 to make r the subject
§ Solving linear equations, including equations where the unknown is on both sides of the equation, the equation includes fractions or both
§ Solving linear inequalities, including inequalities where the unknown appears on both sides of the inequality, the inequality includes fractions, or both
§ Be able to form an expression in terms of one or more unknowns from a diagram or written explanation of a problem
§ Factorising a quadratic expression
§ Solving a quadratic equation by factorising
§ Solving a quadratic equation by Completing the Square
§ Solving a quadratic equation by using the quadratic formula
